BENRO TMA38CL MACH 3 TRIPOD REVIEW

What is the best tripod for landscape photography?

The tripod. Is it a landscape photographers best friend? Well, I certainly think so. Where would we be without it? I mean, you have to have something that is ideally lightweight, sturdy, rock solid and able to handle the weight of a few thousand pounds worth of photography equipment. I have had the Benro TMA38CL for around a year, so what do I think? Well, lets find out.

The Benro Mach 3 is the runway model of the tripod world. The Mach 3 is made from advanced carbon materials. It has sturdy, high-performance twist locks and magnesium castings. The twist locks fit your hand perfectly, and the legs glide effortlessly out with a satisfying click. It only takes half a twist to release the telescopic legs, which is perfect for when you’re in a rush to get the tripod up.

Being a landscape photographer based in Dorset, I have subjected the Mach 3 to all sorts of weather conditions. Its has been battered by the rain, waded out into deep rivers, battered by the wind, and dug into the sand. I have tried everything possible to break this tripod, but it just laughs at me. I keep waiting for the legs to get jammed, or become a nightmare to extend. Nope, its still working like its brand new.

Overall, this tripod has really helped me up my game in landscape photography. I always found with my other tripods I was fighting against them. The Benro TMA38CL feels like it is working with me.

The Mach 3 extends to a height of 153cm with the column down, which is absolutely perfect for my needs.

The Mach 3 comes with a beautiful bag, but I don’t imagine most people will use this, but it does come with spikes that you can screw into the bottom of the tripod to give you extra purchase on wet grass or boggy ground.

My opinion for the price, it is the best tripod on the market.
