Autumn. warm jumpers, hot chocolate, log fires and great photography. Why do I love autumn so much and what are my tips for photography during this season? Well, keep reading and I will tell you.

For me personally, summer is the worst time of year for photography…

The histogram. A little graph that you will hear about all of the time. You will also see it appearing at the top right hand side of both Lightroom and Photoshop. But what is it? How can you read it? and how will it help improve your photography? Sit tight, grab a cup of tea and I’ll tell you.

Tripods. A pole with 3 legs, right? Nothing more than that. If it holds your camera, then that’s good enough….. WRONG. In my opinion, having a good tripod is imperative. I’m not exaggerating when I say that buying a high quality and sturdy tripod has completely changed my photography and ultimately the quality of my images. Before I delve into that, let me explain why I think, apart from your camera and lenses, why your tripod should be the next most import piece of equipment that you own.

This is going to be a longer blog than usual, as this blog is going to be about my favourite photographers. These photographers all have their own little traits and trends as to why I really like them and their work. Most importantly, I’m going to talk about why they inspire me.

Before I start, I’m going to admit that I’ve fallen foul of some of this myself, and its hard not to be flattered when a company comes knocking. I was just happy having people like my images, and enjoyed taking them. That is still the case and always will be, but why shouldn’t we all get paid for our talents? I mean, look at what we as photographers do and pay for to get to a position where we can sell our photography. I’m sure you can all relate to these.

I am delighted to announce that I was one of 18 Instagram accounts who was selected as Forestry England’s “18 Instagram accounts to follow if you love nature”.

I am obviously honoured to be selected alongside photographers like Simon Baxter, who I personally look up to. Living near a number of Forestry England woodlands, I spend a lot of time walking through the forest and taking photography of all of the trees that they have to offer.

A lot of people may see wild camping (or backpack camping) as something that they wouldn’t be able to do, that it’s scary or a little bit daunting. People generally have the same questions like; What do I pack? What if the weather turns bad? Where can I camp?

Hopefully, this blog will answer some of those questions for you.
